A spokesman for the Health and Social Services Department says...
"On Thursday afternoon (21 June), an isolator valve on a 2-inch hot water main in Le Marchant Ward failed, causing moderate flooding to the ward and some ancillary areas. There was a speedy response from all of the Hospital teams who helped with the evacuation of the patients to other parts of the Hospital, which enabled the cleanup operation to be undertaken quickly. We would also like to thank the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service for their assistance.
No patients or staff have been injured as a result of this incident. Patient care has been interrupted, however, no patients have been adversely affected as a result of the flood.
Patients have now started to return to the ward with no adverse effects. A full investigation will be undertaken to identify the cause of the failure of the isolator valve."
