Signal upgrades at Le Chene and L'Aumone junctions

Monday 16 July 2012

Improvements are being made to the junctions at Le Chene and L'Aumone, to help ease traffic flow.

The Environment Department remains committed to making ongoing improvements to traffic signals where necessary, particularly in the light of developing technology or changing traffic/pedestrian flows.

Following careful analysis, including traffic surveys, it has identified two signal junctions that would benefit from the installation of a right-turn arrow facility to improve traffic flow.

The first is at the junction of Russell Road/Le Chene Hill where a right-turn arrow will be introduced to assist traffic turning right from Forest Road (from the east) into Russell Road. The right-turn arrow will operate on a demand basis and will activate at the end of the phase for east/west traffic if required.

The second is at the junction of L'Aumone/Le Friquet where a right-turn arrow will be introduced to assist traffic turning right from Les Varendes into Le Friquet. The right-turn arrow will also operate on a demand basis and will activate at the end of the phase for east/west traffic if required.

In both locations, the Department believes that the changes will help to reduce queuing at peak times.

The traffic heads for the right-turn arrows have already been installed by States Works and a Siemens signal engineer will be commissioning these facilities tomorrow.
