Proposed scope for the new Guernsey and Alderney Tobacco Control Strategy 2014 - 2020

Wednesday 15 August 2012
Print

The present Tobacco Control Strategy for 2009 - 2013 has been successful in reducing the number of adults and young people who smoke. Despite this, smoking remains a major cause of ill health and preventable premature death in Guernsey and Alderney.

To further improve the health of our community and prevent premature death caused by smoking tobacco products, the new Tobacco Control Strategy for 2014 - 2020 proposes to introduce further initiatives to support the many smokers who wish to stop smoking. The long term aim is to ensure the young people of Alderney and Guernsey will be able to grow up in a Smokefree Environment.

In developing the new 2014 - 2020 strategy we would appreciate your comments and ideas on the proposed 'scope' of the strategy work which aims to produce a new plan to further reduce the prevalence of smoking. The scope of the work is shown from the document download at the bottom of this page.

I would be grateful for your comments on the areas included in the proposed scope for the strategy work, and any other issues you think should be added.

Please return any comments by post or email for the attention of Gerry Le Roy, Tobacco Control Project Manager, gleroy@hssd.gov.gg by Friday, 17 August 2012 so that they can be considered for inclusion in the new Strategy. Respondents' comments may be published anonymously in a feedback report that will be made available to the public.
