Monday 20 August 2012
Guernsey's coastal defence strategy will be discussed at a meeting organised by the Environment Department for States Members and Parish Douzeniers and Constables to be held next Wednesday 22 August.
UK consultants Royal Haskoning recently finalised their report 'Guernsey's Coastal Defences - Flood Risk Assessment Studies'. The studies take into account the most recent predictions for sea level rise issued in 2009 by the United Kingdom Climate Impact Programme and follow on from the Coastal Defence Strategy report undertaken in 2007.
The Environment Department and a representative from Royal Haskoning will outline the findings of the report and discuss how the strategy will be taken forward. The meeting will mark the start of a two-month period of public consultation on the areas assessed during the coastal flood risk assessment studies.
Two drop-in sessions for the public will be held on Wednesday 29 August and Monday 3 September at St Sampson's High School where there will be displays on the areas examined during the flood risk assessments. The displays are available to view between 14:00hrs and 20:00hrs on both days.
The report will be available for the public to view at Sir Charles Frossard House Reception, The Guille-Alles Library, and on this site from 23 August 2012.
