Monday 01 October 2012

As of 1 February 2013, ALL fishing vessels commercially fishing within the 0-12nm limit of Bailiwick waters will need a Bailiwick of Guernsey fishing vessel licence.

On 10 July 2012 Her Majesty the Queen approved the Projet de Loi (Order in Council) entitled the Sea Fish Licensing (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2012 which requires all vessels fishing within British Fishery Limits adjacent to the Bailiwick of Guernsey (3-12nm limit) to have a valid Bailiwick of Guernsey fishing vessel licence. This legislation was approved following agreement from the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Marine Scotland, the Welsh Government and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Northern Ireland (DARDNI) and culminated in the signing of a fisheries management agreement for Bailiwick waters from 3 to 12 nautical miles from the coast.

As of 1 February 2013, ALL fishing vessels commercially fishing within the 0 - 12nm limit of Bailiwick waters will need a Bailiwick of Guernsey fishing vessel licence.
