One lucky household has won £2,000 in the first of four quarterly prize draws open to Household Expenditure Survey participants. Five runners up also received prizes of £100 each.
The winning householders did not wish to be named, but one of them said:
"It was a lovely surprise to win; I don't usually win prizes. It looks like rather a lot to fill out but it wasn't difficult. I just did a little bit at a time and filled in the diary each day. And you don't have to state anything that you don't want to."
The Survey is being conducted by Island Analysis on behalf of the Policy Council. Island Analysis Head of Research Dr. Michaela de Vial said:
"Thank you to those who have participated in the survey to date, and congratulations to the winners of the first prize draw. There will be three more prize draws, so if you are still to submit your completed forms or wish to participate in the future, please get in touch."
Three similar draws will be held at regular intervals throughout the remaining nine months of the survey. Those wishing to participate in the survey and be eligible for entry into one of the three remaining prize draws should contact James Travers at Island Analysis on 716227 or james@islandanalysis.com for more information.
The Household Expenditure Survey (HES) is undertaken approximately every five years and monitors the expenditure patterns of local households. The information collected is key to ensuring that the inflation indices (RPI and PRIX) continue to be accurate measures of the changes in the cost of living experienced by islanders. The survey is conducted on a confidential basis using unique identification numbers, and no personal information is shared.
Households are asked to complete a set of questionnaires, including one in which they keep a diary of their daily expenditure for 14 days. Households submitting completed forms to Island Analysis by the deadline set for each quarter will be included in the prize draw for that period.
