The Guernsey Earnings Bulletin monitors average earnings of all employees in the Bailiwick (excluding Sark) and provides breakdowns of average earnings by age, gender and sector, which it is hoped is of public interest.
Headline data on average earnings have been published in the and since 2011. This information and additional further detail, which was developed during the course of 2012, are now available in a new bulletin, which can be downloaded from below.
The data are supplied by the Social Security Department and include only employed individuals. The averages reported relates to individuals (not households) and includes full and part time workers, so the trends can be affected by numbers of hours worked as well as rate of pay. Only income from primary employment is included, incomes from self-employment, secondary employments and other non-earned sources are not included. This provides a measure of the underlying trend and change in earnings.
The intention is to publish this bulletin annually in March or April in future.
