Significant improvements have been made to the Sir Charles Frossard House cashiering counter to make it more accessible and convenient for the public.
The opening hours of the cashiering counters - which have been renamed 'Customer Services' - have been extended to make it easier for people to speak to customer services staff in person or by telephone outside of normal working hours. It is now open from 8am to 6pm weekdays.
The cashiering section has been completely refitted, with split-level counters and modern intercoms with integrated hearing loops installed, and the introduction of a meeting room where people visiting customer services can speak to staff in private, should they wish to.
Customer Services is based on level 2 of Sir Charles Frossard House, next to the lower entrance to the building, and now has dedicated parking directly outside.
The changes to the cashiers counter have been introduced as part of the States' project to introduce a Shared Transactional Service Centre and new SAP financial management software (the 'SAP/STSC project').
Treasury and Resources Department board member Deputy Garry Collins, political spokesman for the SAP/STSC project, said:
"We understand that people lead busy lives and that it's not always convenient for members of the public to deal with their account enquiries during normal working hours, so we've extended the opening hours of the Customer Services desk on the ground floor at Sir Charles Frossard House to meet people's needs".
"We have also improved the accessibility of our customer services facilities by introducing split-level counters and intercoms with integrated hearing loops, which we consider to be very important developments".
Customer Services is now open for business from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday and can be accessed from the lower car park. Customers will only be able to access the area from the main entrance at Sir Charles Frossard House between the hours of 8.30 am- 5.00 pm.
