Following this week's storm and snow fall the public are asked to exercise great caution when walking through areas of trees which may be damaged by wind or weight of snow over the last few days causing cracked or broken branches which may be liable to fall with no warning.
Areas of particular concern include public parks, areas of woodland such as Le Guet, Saumarez Nature Trail and the Pine Forest, the reservoir, cliff paths, land around public buildings such as hospitals and schools. The relevant States Departments will be checking trees throughout these areas and safety works will be undertaken according to priority.
Anyone wishing to report a broken branch hanging over a path on public land should contact the relevant school or property manager. Any damaged trees around the coast, on a nature trail or a public park/garden should be reported to the Environment Department, Tel: 717200 or env@gov.gg with details of the locality.
