Guernsey's annual inflation as measured by the RPIX ('core' inflation excluding mortgage interest payments) was 2.3% over the year ending March 2013, 0.7 percentage points lower than the year ending December 2012. The 'all items' RPI annual inflation was 2.6% in March 2013, compared to 3.2% the previous quarter.
The States Economist said,
"This quarter's lower than expected inflation is to be broadly welcomed. Price falls in household and leisure goods baskets suggest that retail conditions continue to be competitive and in other areas only small rent increases over the year and lower rates of property inflation have reduced the contribution from the housing baskets."
