The Scrutiny Committee will now resume its programme of planned review work following the completion of the AFR Urgent Business Review.
The Committee is currently working on two scheduled reviews - one into the 'Security of Guernsey‟s Electricity Supply' and the other into 'Who "Regulates" the Financial Services Regulator?' This work had to be put on hold after the Committee decided in March to undertake an urgent review into the non-disclosure of information by the Home Department relating to the negotiated settlement with AFR Advocates.
Alderney Representative Paul Arditti, Chairman of the Scrutiny Committee, said:
"Scrutiny's work on the AFR Urgent Business Review has now concluded, and it is high time we resumed our planned work which, unfortunately - but necessarily - we had to put on hold in order to focus our limited resources on the AFR review. Under the circumstances, this was the right thing to do, but we must now do our utmost to catch up where we left off.
"I am mindful that a number of people and organisations have dedicated time and effort in responding to consultation on the Committee's planned reviews, and I would like to thank them for their patience and understanding whilst we have had to concentrate our efforts on the Urgent Business Review".
The Scrutiny Committee will also consider its procedures for future Urgent Business Reviews.
"The Urgent Business Review into the AFR settlement was the first such review undertaken in the Committee's history. Whilst it has been highly successful we will, of course, seek to build on the experiences of the review as we refine our procedures for future urgent business work".
