Guernsey Press enquiry
Hi there
I have a media enquiry for the department regarding Bordeaux car park.
We understand that it is currently being repaired and wanted to know what work was being done? Why it is taking place? How much it will cost? Also what the department's schedule is - when the work started and when it is expected to finish? Also if there are any other car parks it is planning on repairing? If so, which ones? What needs to be carried out and when it is expected to take place?
The article is planned in for tomorrow, if you were able to provide a response by 4pm today I should be grateful.
Please could you confirm receipt of this email.
Thank you for your help.
Kind regards
Helen

Environment Department's response:
The surface at Bordeaux car park is being scarified, with the addition of 32 Tonnes of new stone aggregate material, infilling remaining pot holes, re-grading and rolling at a cost of circa £1700.
Works were due to start yesterday (26 March) and should be finished before the weekend.
The works are part of a programme of improvements to repair nine of the 41 coastal car parks the Environment Department administers. If funds allow the Department is seeking to do works to improve a further 12 car parks. The precise number will be determined by the cost of repairs, quotes for which the Department is currently seeking. The following car parks form the first tranche of works:
- Jerbourg headland
- L'Eree South Lower
- G.Rocques rear
- Fort Hommet
- Port Soif (kiosk )
- Vale Pond
- Pembroke East
- Bordeaux (Les Petils)
- Bordeaux (Woodies)
Once we have received quotes for the next set of repairs a list of car parks the Department intends to repair (for the second tranche of works) will be available on request on or after 6 April.
The specification of works are similar for all the car parks referred to above. Works to the first nine car parks is expected to be completed by 3 April but is dependent on prevailing weather and ground conditions.
