The Home Department is pleased to announce that the next iteration of the biennial Crime & Justice Survey has been launched today
The Crime & Justice Survey is a joint initiative between the Home Department and key stakeholders in the criminal justice arena. It is an important means through which criminal justice organisations are able to understand the needs and experiences of local people. The first Crime & Justice Survey was held in 2013 with the intention of repeating the Survey every two years in order to regularly engage with, and be informed by, the opinions of Islanders.
The Survey provides the public with an opportunity to feedback on a number of criminal justice agencies, including Guernsey Police, the Guernsey Border Agency, Guernsey Probation Service, Guernsey Prison, the Judiciary and the Victim Support and Witness Service. It aims to provide reliable statistics on people's experiences of crime, including services provided to offenders and victims of crime, to understand people's attitude and experiences in regard to a range of important crime and justice related issues in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and to examine trends in the perception of local crime levels and the nature of crime over time.
The resulting data from the Survey will provide key information to support performance measurement, inform project development and will contribute to future decision making.
The 2015 Survey will be available for completion online, at https://www.gov.gg/CrimeJusticeSurvey2015, for six weeks between 03 August and 13 September. The results of the Survey will be released later in the year and will be made available to the public.
