Update - Road Safety - Le Petit Bouet

Tuesday 25 August 2015

Media Enquiry from BBC Radio Guernsey:

We're running a story with a chap who has concerns about safety on Le Petit Bouet called Mike Henderson who is writing to Environment to get the road turned one-way.

Obviously, I want to talk to Environment and get a right of reply.

Environment Department Response:

The Environment Department has received a wide range of road safety and traffic management issues concerning Le Bouet including some suggestions on the measures to address the concerns.  The Department will be investigating the issues raised which will include a survey of the road and footpaths, consideration of the Police accident statistics and data gathering to establish vehicle volumes/speeds and pedestrian volumes.  This data will be used to help assess whether changes are warranted and if so, how they should be prioritised against other areas where similar issues have been raised.  A major factor that needs to be taken into account when considering specifically the suggestion of a one way is the impact this form of traffic management might have on the surrounding road network particularly at already busy road junctions in the area.
