Media Enquiry from Guernsey Press:
On a separate note, we contacted Holly last week about the cycle contra-flow markings in Oatlands Lane not being re-painted following resurfacing. At the time Environment said the markings would be painted as soon as possible when the weather allowed.
I just wanted to check whether this had been done now?
Environment Department Response:
It remains regrettable that there has been a delay in reinstating the cycle contra-flow markings in Oatlands Lane following the Public Services Department's road resurfacing. This has been due to the significant amount of wet weather that has been experienced in August and an unusually heavy workload for our contractors at a time when staff levels were lower than usual due to annual leave. Our contractors are making every effort to catch up with road painting works and expect the marking to be reinstated in Oatlands Lane in the next couple of weeks.
