Statement made by the Chief Minister regarding the Disability and Inclusion Strategy

Tuesday 29 September 2015

The following statement was delivered to the States of Deliberation by the Chief Minister, Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, on Tuesday 29 September 2015 in relation to the Disability and Inclusion Strategy

**CHECK AGAINST DELIVERY**

When the States approved the Disability and Inclusion Strategy in November 2013, the Assembly resolved that the Policy Council should report back to the States by no later than September 2015 with a progress report on its implementation.

As will be evident from this month's Billet d'Etat, this deadline has not been met. I regret that it has not been possible due to the extended and unforeseen absence of the staff member responsible for its preparation, at a time when the Policy Council's limited staff resources were already very stretched across a number of major projects.

However, on a positive note, the delay has also afforded the opportunity to progress some matters to a key stage before the report it is presented to the Assembly.

It is now planned to submit the update report for consideration at the November States Meeting.
