The work of the government is carried out by a coordinating body known as the Policy Council and 10 States Departments. Below is a brief overview of the responsibilities of each Department, with a link to a more comprehensive individual Departmental page.

In addition there are a number of Committees which deal with non-executive functions such as scrutiny, review of draft legislation and functioning of the States (government).
