Sectors considered for work permits
Work permits are issued in accordance with the Home Department's work permit policy and are restricted to employment the following sectors:
FINANCE
This includes employment as an accountant, actuary or advocate (commercial lawyer) in banks and in investment, insurance and fiduciary businesses.
INDUSTRY
Employment requiring high level qualifications or occupational skills for companies whose principal business is the manufacture of goods for export outside the Bailiwick of Guernsey or the rendering of services to clients outside the Bailiwick
HEALTH
Professionally qualified medical or health personnel in hospitals, the Medical Specialist Group, nursing or residential homes, doctors', dental and physiotherapy practices and pharmacies.
EDUCATION
Professionally qualified teachers in States Schools, the College of Further Education, Elizabeth College, The Ladies' College and Blanchelande College.
GOVERNMENT
Professionally qualified lawyers and legal draughtsmen for St James' Chambers.
VETERINARY
Professionally qualified veterinary surgeons in established veterinary practices.
HOSPITALITY
Experienced hotel / restaurant managers, hotel receptionists and waiting staff and skilled chefs in quality establishments.
