Tuesday 28 February 2012
The Policy and Research Unit of the Policy Council will this week publish the findings of research into the potential impact of Guernsey's changing demographic and population on public services.
The report, 'Potential Long Term Implications of Demographic and Population Change on the Demand for and Cost of Public Services', considers the impact of a rising number of pensioners and fewer workers, together with increasing life expectancy. These changes are likely to increase the costs of public services - in particular the provision of pensions and healthcare - and Policy and Research Unit of the Policy Council prepared the report to help decision--‐makers within the States to develop policies that take these changes into account.
Staff from the Policy and Research Unit of the Policy Council will present the report at the Cambridge and Delancey Rooms, Beau Sejour, at 11:00 on Friday 2 March 2012.
This presentation is open to the media and members of the public to attend. Following the presentation, the report will be available for download on this website.
