A Safer Workforce

Building a Safer Workforce

A key responsibility for the Home Department is to empower local employers to make more informed and ultimately safer recruitment decisions, particularly where an occupation involves contact with children and vulnerable adults or where a higher degree of integrity for a role is required (e.g. law enforcement, legal services).

Relevant legislation therefore makes a criminal record check - or disclosure - service for Bailiwick employers.

There are different levels of criminal record checks, or disclosures, available:

  • Basic Disclosures - are available through Guernsey Police;
  • Standard Disclosures - are available from the Criminal Records Bureau ('the CRB') through the Guernsey Vetting Bureau ('the GVB');
  • Enhanced Disclosures - are available from the Criminal Records Bureau ('the CRB') through the Guernsey Vetting Bureau ('the GVB').

The Guernsey Vetting Bureau is a local agent of the Criminal Records Bureau, a provider of criminal record checks for England, Wales, Guernsey and Jersey. Further information on the categories of Disclosure for employment vetting available in the Bailiwick, and how you can access them, can be accessed by clicking here.
