Work Permits - Information for Employers
In the main, a person who is not a national of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA) requires a work permit issued under provisions of the Immigration Act 1971 (as extended) in order to take employment in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

Who can apply for a work permit?
Applications for permits can only be made by Bailiwick of Guernsey based employers on behalf of the person they wish to employ. There is no provision for individuals to apply on their own behalf:
Who issues work Permits?
Work Permits are issued by the Immigration and Nationality Division on behalf of the Home Department in accordance with its work permit policy. The work permit policy can be accessed by clicking the download below. Application forms can be obtained from the address below.

Further information
Persons who are living abroad at the time the work permit is applied for should not travel to the Bailiwick of Guernsey until they are in possession of the required work permit as it must be produced to the Immigration Officer at the port of entry. It will be necessary therefore to send the permit to the potential employee.
