Update - Guernsey's Scheduled and Integrated Bus Services Contract

Monday 06 February 2012

In response to a number of media enquiries the Environment Department is releasing the following.

Talks between the Environment Department and HCT Group on the future bus contract are continuing to progress very positively and the Department remains certain that final agreement will be reached in the very near future.  Both parties have had a huge amount of work to do since HCT Group was announced as preferred partner.  The logistics of taking over an operation in such a short time frame are complex and in order to negotiate the contract many options have had to be explored and evaluated.  It is perhaps not surprising then that the process is taking longer than originally intended.  However, in evaluating the options in this way much of the preparatory work is already now underway.

The Board of the Environment Department expects to be meeting formally to consider proposals later this week and HCT Group are already working at their risk to put all the arrangements in place for the 1 April 2012 take-over.
