Retirement of La Mare de Carteret High School headteacher

Saturday 11 February 2012
Print

The headteacher of La Mare de Carteret High School, Mr Ken Wheeler, has decided to retire from his post at February half term.

His decision has been made owing to health issues which he feels are beginning to have an impact on his ability to carry out his duties as effectively as he would wish. He has therefore decided that it will be in the best interests of the students and the wider school community to leave at this time.

The recruitment process for a new headteacher will start immediately with the expectation that an appointment will be made ready for the new headteacher to be in post from September 2012. In the meantime Mr Geoff Cowley will be taking over as acting headteacher.

Note to Editors: The Education Department will not be making any further comment and asks that members of the media respect the strict embargo on this media release [until 00.01am Saturday 11 February]  to allow parents, pupils and staff to be informed of Mr Wheeler's decision. Parents will receive a letter in Saturday's post and so the media are asked to not to visit the school or question parents until they have had the opportunity to receive and read this letter.
