Guernsey was represented at the British-Irish Council Social Inclusion group's fifth Ministerial meeting hosted by the Welsh Government at the City Hall in Cardiff, Wales, yesterday. The meeting focused on the Contribution of the Third Sector to Social Inclusion across all eight Member Jurisdictions.
Deputy Carol Steere represented the States of Guernsey at the meeting, alongside Ministers from the Government of Ireland; the British Government; the Northern Ireland Executive; the Scottish Government; the Welsh Assembly Government; the States of Jersey; and the Government of the Isle of Man.
The meeting considered how voluntary organisations, also known as the 'Third Sector', can play a role in how public services are delivered, and published a report, available through the link below.
The British-Irish Council is an important forum for Guernsey because it gives the Island an opportunity to share information and learn lessons from other jurisdictions in the British isles, on a range of important issues, ranging from energy to social issues.
