Environment Department response to media enquiry from BBC Radio Guernsey.
BBC Guernsey enquiry:
Further to my telephone call, BBC Guernsey would like to know whether the front page article on today's Guernsey Press is in fact accurate "Strike threat on the buses".
Also, if this is the case, could we have an interview with the relevant person from the department on how this will be dealt with and what issues have given rise to a possible strike?
Response:
The Environment Department is not aware of any corroborated general disharmony from the drivers requiring any action from the Department. These issues must remain, in the first instance, a matter for the employer, CT Plus.
All staff working for CT Plus are employed in accordance with contract terms stipulated by the Company and any issues relating to the details of those contracts are matters for the employer and its employees.
However, the Department understands that the key terms and conditions of the new contracts are largely similar to those that existed previously. Indeed the Department knows that the April pay rise that would normally have been given under the old contracts was honoured.
