Brock University - Undergraduate and Post Graduate Scholarships

As part of historic links between Guernsey and Brock University, Brock University in Ontario, Canada, is offering one undergraduate and one post graduate scholarship to a person ordinarily resident in Guernsey, Alderney or Herm wishing to pursue a course commencing in the autumn term of 2024. The University will meet the tuition fees of each Scholarship holder.

Undergraduate

  • Tuition Fees

    • The University will meet the tuition fees of the Scholarship holder who is ordinarily resident in Guernsey, Alderney or Herm.
  • Financial Support

    • Financial support towards living costs (maintenance) is available through the usual Higher Education Awards means tested funding. Students should refer to the criteria for funding: Funding for Study - States of Guernsey (gov.gg). Student Finance will cover the cost of up to two return fares per year, subject to means testing.
    • Please note that the successful applicant will need to achieve a minimum level of grades annually to ensure the scholarship is carried forward in the future years of the course
  • How to Apply

    • If you are looking to apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship, please complete the Brock University online application form - Click here. Please note, when completing the form you should:
      • Select FALL 2024
      • Add the following code: Guernsey2024 (when the fee is asked for)
    • In addition to the Brock application form, above, applicants will also need to send in the following documentation to the Student Finance Team Guernsey, studentfinance@gov.gg by 31st January 2024.
      • A letter addressed to the Director of Education explaining why you wish to apply for the scholarship (please click on the next drop-down 'Awarding The Undergraduate Scholarship' for further details);
      • An academic transcript (i.e. a statement of your educational qualifications signed by the head of your educational institution); and
      • A reference from the head of your educational institution.
    • Your supporting academic information will be sent to the university to confirm you meet the academic standards.
    • If approved by Brock, your letter of application will be reviewed by an internal panel of Education Officers, and you will be invited to attend a selection interview in Guernsey.
  • Awarding The Undergraduate Scholarship

    • In the letter of application to the Director of Education, applicants should demonstrate that they have the personal skills and qualities needed to undertake a course of study abroad.
    • As this is a funded opportunity, the panel will be looking for applicants who can demonstrate high academic ability as well as the personal qualities needed to make the most of this unique opportunity.
    • In particular, candidates should be able to demonstrate that they are resilient, adaptable, flexible and culturally aware, and that they will make the most of all the wider opportunities on offer to them at Brock.

Post Graduate

  • Tuition Fees

    • The University will meet the tuition fees of the Scholarship holder who is ordinarily resident in Guernsey, Alderney or Herm.
  • Financial Support

    • Financial support towards living costs (maintenance) is available through the usual Higher Education Awards means tested funding. Students should refer to the criteria for funding: Funding for Study - States of Guernsey (gov.gg).  Student Finance will cover the cost of one return fare per year subject to means testing.
  • How to Apply

    • Apply Direct to Brock University.
    • Applications should be submitted online directly to Brock University via Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (brocku.ca). Please check the deadlines for each programme of study, most deadlines are mid-February.
    • Applicants should: -
      • Ensure that they meet the criteria for the course. Queries should be made to Brock University directly.
      • Identify the fact that they have applied for the Brock University Guernsey Postgraduate Scholarship within the Personal Information area of their online application.
      • Also mention in their letter of intent that they have applied for the Brock University Guernsey Postgraduate Scholarship.
      • You must inform studentfinance@gov.gg that you have applied for the scholarship.
      • The decision to award the Graduate Scholarship is made by Brock University directly.
