Data Protection Guidance intended for Elected Members and States Departments. Updated October 2008
From time to time the Data Protection Office is asked for advice by States Members or Departmental Staff relating to the disclosure of personal data to Members.
A copy of the Good Practice Note and Form of Consent is available for download; these documents have have been issued by the States Assembly and Constitution Committee to provide advice as to how the Data Protection legislation affects Prospective and Elected Members of the States.
Guidance for States Departments on Disclosure to Elected Members is available for download; this complements the good practice note and has been designed to help departments respond to requests by States Members for the disclosure of personal data relating to individuals with whose cases they may be dealing.
