Weights and Measures Statutory Instruments (regulations)

A number of regulations have been made under the Weights and Measures (Guernsey and Alderney) Law, 1991.

These regulations provide additional detail beyond that included in the Law. For example they set down the levels of accuracy required in weighing or measuring equipment, and the manner in which units of measurement must be marked.

The regulations have the force of Law.

The table below lists those regulations which are current (as at end of June 2005). Clicking on the highlighted text provides further information by way of an explanatory note. Certain regulations can be viewed in their entirety by clicking on the PDF link at the bottom of the relevant page, however you may need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader.

It is intended that most weights and measures regulations will be able to be viewed in this way, but some adopt parts of United Kingdom regulations and will not therefore be available via the Internet.

Regulations that are available via the Internet may be freely copied providing they are not sold for monetary gain.

Copies of all regulations are available by contacting the Trading Standards Service for which a charge may be levied.
