The Arts Development team has organised or been involved in many varied cultural events on the island since its formation in 2005.

The Latvian National Day Celebration
November 18th
This celebration was organised in conjunction with Lilita Kruze, who now heads up the Guernsey Latvian Association, with the support of Culture Guernsey. This event included a classical performance from Toms Ostrovskis and Tatjana Kaminska, two nationally-recognised young Latvian musicians, and was well-received by an audience of Latvians and Guernsey people alike.

Arts Alive '06 & '07
Arts Alive was a celebration of the arts in Guernsey involving arts groups and individuals from the local community, with 50 stalls, performances throughout the two days and workshops and demonstrations for the visiting public.

Storytelling with Jamie Crawford and Katy Cawkwell  The UK storytellers travelled to the island to lead workshops for local children, introducing the youngsters to the technique and performance of storytelling. Forty children attended the day-long session and an adult workshop was held the following day. The workshops culminated in an evening performance by Jamie and Katy to a spellbound public audience. 

'Arts Week' - Summer half term
As part of its popular 'Holiday Club' for children held at Beau Sejour, youngsters were invited to try their hand at a number of different art and craft activities. The final results showed the artistic flair that local children possess and the success of the sessions showed the immense enjoyment the arts can bring to youngsters.

Arts OutsideThe streets of St Peter Port were brought to life by storytellers, street theatre and local performers, in an al fresco celebration of the arts. Utilising the stunning town backdrop, five sites presented a diverse programme over the seven day festival.

HMV 'Castle Nights'  
The Castel Nights were an initiative where entertainment was provided free of charge to the public, in the beautiful grounds of Castle Cornet. Thousands of people were entertained by musical acts, military manouevres and poets over the course of five evenings through July, August and September 2007. The initiative's success  lead to further 'Winter Castle Nights', in association with Healthy Direct, running from October 2007, including a Halloween-themed night and Christmas Market evening.
