Leisure Services
Are you a sporty person? Would you like to become a member of the most popular health/fitness suite in the Island? Do you have a corporate function coming up and you need a quality venue? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then Leisure Services can help you....
Leisure Services are committed to providing high-quality services and facilities for the sites under its control. Accessibility is a key issue to the Department, and we are keen that there should be a range of services on offer for everybody regardless of age, gender or ability. The sports catered for by Leisure Services include football (indoor and 11-a-side), swimming, softball, volleyball, aerobics, badminton, tennis, trampolining, pistol shooting, athletics and many more.
Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, which was succesfully revamped between 2001-03, now offers facilities and services of the highest quality for sports and leisure pursuits, all at prices which are very competitive with other health, leisure and facilities in the Island. The Centre also has excellent facilities for corporate functions, boasting a variety of meeting rooms and spaces for events, with technical equipment and support available. Please click on the left menu on 'Corporate Hospitality' to access further information on this subject, and download the Coporate Hospitality Brochure for the Department.
For further information on Beau Sejour Leisure Centre in general, go to the 'External Links' section on the right-hand column of this page, and visit the Centre's website. Here you can also learn about the latest events taking place at the Centre, how to become a member, details of the Holiday Club for schoolchildren, and what events are taking place at the Beau Sejour Theatre. The theatre is a very busy venue, with a wide variety of events taking place on most days of the year, ranging from the annual Eisteddfod, special film viewings, plays, concerts and comedy shows. Please have a look at the forthcoming events - you will probably find something that appeals to you.
The Centre's commitment towards customer service and the quality of its facilities has lead to it being awarded a 'Highly Commended' accreditation by Quest (an accreditation body for Sport and Leisure facilities/services) for the second time. This puts the Centre into the upper quartile of leisure centres in the UK, ranked by Quest. For more details on the work of Quest, please check out the 'External Links' section in the right-hand column of this page.
The Footes Lane complex was also recently accredited for the second time by Quest, and was commended for its facilities and accessibility. The recent development of the Garenne Stand has transformed the complex into a showpiece venue for sporting events in the Island, such as the Muratti, the Island Games and the Siam Cup. The ATP (Artificial Turf Pitch) at Footes Lane provides a high-quality surface for hockey, complemented by the recently built hockey pavillion overlooking the pitch.
Other sites owned or overseen by the Department include Delancey Park, which has full-sized football and cricket pitches and a bowling green; Fort Le Marchant Rifle Range; La Valette Bathing Places; Victoria Avenue Playing Fields, which has a full-sized football pitch and a smaller one for training in addition to a permanent artificial cricket wicket; and Beau Sejour Park, which has two football pitches, a softball diamond, tennis courts and a children's playground.
