In fact, Museum Services' mandate covers the maintenance and care of over 80 historic sites ranging from the Island's showpiece sites like the Castle and Fort Grey, to the small monuments and dolmens found on so many of Guernsey's coastlines. The section's responsibility also stretches to the care and interpretation of thousands of valuable museum collections and objects, managing a programme of field archaeology and organising rescue archaeology.

The collections in the care of Museum Services range from ancient texts to early firearms, and from valuable paintings to suits of armour. A large part of Museum Services work involves the creation of exhibitions, utilising museum space at Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery and Castle Cornet.
