Primary Function
To prepare formal Development Plans and Briefs for adoption by the States and to develop other relevant policy to achieve the planning objectives of the States and of the Department.
Specific tasks
- Rural Area Plan (Phases 1 and 2). Draft Rural Area Plan (Review No.1) published and Inspector's Report awaited.
- Urban Area Plan (Review No.1) - adopted July 2002.
- The formal plans are normally reviewed every five years.
- Liaison with other States departments in areas requiring corporate policy making (e.g. Corporate Housing Programme).
- Preparation of informal policy and guidance.
