Pest Control

Brown Rat

The Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation Department runs a pest control service with two full-time pest control operatives.

What pests are treated?

Due to the size of the pest control service and the huge variety of pests that can trouble domestic and commercial premises, the department is not able to treat all kinds of pest infestation.  The types of pest and occurrence of infestation are prioritised and the department treats the pests that pose the most significant public health risk on the island.  The department offers pest control treatments for the following pests:

  • Rats
  • Fleas (where the issue is a public health problem and not a pet problem)
  • Bed bugs

Although certain exemptions apply, the department generally only provides a pest control service for domestic properties.
