This page gives information on your personal duty free allowances and access to information leaflets.
Your Duty Free Goods Allowances
There are restrictions on the amount of duty free goods that can be brought into Guernsey. Your maximum personal allowances are as follows:
Tobacco Products (over 17s only)
| Cigarettes | 200 |
| Or cigarillos | 100 |
| Or cigars | 50 |
| Or tobacco | 250 g |
Alcoholic Drinks (over 17s only)
| Still table wine | 2 litres |
| And either spirits or strong liqueurs over 22% volume | 1 litre |
| Or fortified or sparkling wine or other liqueurs | 2 litres |
| Or an additional still table wine allowance | 4 litres |
Other Goods
a) If brought in from a country of the EC, goods to an unlimited value, with the exception of beer and cider to a maximum of 50 litres per person (or a combination of beer and cider).
b) If brought in from a country outside of the EC, goods to a value of £145.
If you bring in something worth more than the limit of £145, you will have to pay duty on the full value, not just on the value above £145.
If you are travelling as a family or group, you cannot pool your individual allowances towards an item worth more than the limit. You will have to pay duty on the full value of the item.
Prohibited or Restricted Goods
Certain goods such as controlled drugs, firearms, birds and endangered species are also prohibited or restricted. Please contact the Service if you require further information.
GOODS IN EXCESS OF THE PERSONAL ALLOWANCE MUST BE DECLARED
FAILURE TO PROPERLY DECLARE EXCESS GOODS MAY RESULT IN PROSECUTION
