Sewage / Wastewater
The Public Services Department is responsible for the management, collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater from household, industrial and commercial premises.
In order to achieve this we provide and maintain a wastewater network / main drain and are responsible for extending it to areas on the Island which are not covered. The Department aims to enable 95% of the Island’s residential properties to connect to it by 2020.
For those properties not connected to the main drain we provide a sewage collection and disposal service, details of which can be accessed via the sewage collection page.
The Future
The Department has produced three reports, which the States will consider at its next meeting, commencing 31st October 2007. These reports are as follows:
- Belle Greve Wastewater Disposal Facility Interim Works
- Wastewater Charges
- Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment.
These reports were published on 28th September as Billet d'Etat XXI of 2007. The Billet can be obtained in paper form from the Greffe, or downloaded by going to the "Links" section (above right) and clicking on the title.
A Powerpoint presentation based on the main "Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment" report can be viewed in the Download section (above right). (Please note that this is a sizeable document (7.53MB) - if your internet connection would struggle to cope with a download of this size, you can request a free CD version by contacting Anna Henry on 717000, or email Anna.Henry@gov.gg ).
