Home Department

The Home Department's statement of purpose is to "use all available resources to build and protect a safe, just and tolerant society for all the people of the Bailiwick."

Mandate & Service-Delivery

The Department has a wide portfolio and covers a diverse range of services and activities. The Department's mandate is delivered through 7 Business Units, or Operational Service Areas:

  • Central Services

  • Guernsey Police

  • Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service

  • Guernsey Probation Service

  • Guernsey Prison

  • Safeguarder Services

  • Guernsey Border Agency

Business Plan

The Home Department is committed to delivering the objectives in the States Strategic Plan endorsed by the States and delivering its mandate.

The Business Plan sets out the Department's primary objectives and priorities over a fixed period, and includes an analysis of any risks that may impact on the Department's ability to meet its responsibilities.

*The Home Department acts as a conduit through which the independent Data Protection Commissioner can approach the States Assembly.

Central Services

The Central Services Division is located at Les Vardes House in La Charroterie.

Central Services provides centralised support to the Operational Service Areas (HR, IT, Finance) and is the area through which policy, legislation, project management and the Department's additional responsibilities are primarily administered.
