Where can licence holders live
When a housing licence is agreed, Housing Control will give you details of the type of housing that you can live in under that licence. This is referred to as the licence 'accommodation options'. The accommodation options will vary from one licence type to another. Every housing licence is issued for a specific address so if you move address your licence will become invalid and you will need to apply for a new one. Before you move address you will need to contact Housing Control to check the current accommodation options of your licence.
If your licence has been issued because you live with a Qualified Resident or licence holder, there will be no restrictions on the type of housing that you can live in, as long as you live with the Qualified Resident or licence holder named on your licence.
If your licence has been issued because of your connections with Guernsey (a 'compassionate' housing licence), the type of Local Market housing you can live in will be based on your personal circumstances and your housing needs. If your circumstances change so that your accommodation options are no longer suitable, you can contact Housing Control to explain why you would like your accommodation options to be reassessed.
