Physical Activity
There are many benefits to increasing your fitness levels. Not only does regular exercise keep your heart healthy, but it has also been shown to be cancer-protective and reduce the risk of diabetes and obesity. You will also find it easier to lose weight and tone up, your stress levels will improve and you should sleep better at night.
The government has issued new guidelines explaining how much physical activity you need in order to stay healthy. Remember, the important thing is to find something you enjoy and KEEP IT UP!
Physical activity and exercise can help you stay healthy, energetic and independent as you get older.
The NHS Choices website provides information on the importance of exercise as you get older as well as more detailed physical activity guidelines for older adults.
