States Review Committee

The States Review Committee was set up in 2012 to review the structure and operation of the States.

The Committee has submitted its first Report for debate by the States of Deliberation in July 2014.

The full report can be downloaded from this site; there is also a short guide to the Committee's proposals and comments from the Committee's independent members which can be downloaded below.

In order to provoke as much public debate as possible and generally to test public opinion about the package of measures being proposed in the report, the Committee held a public drop in session, two public meetings and also some facilitated focus group sessions ahead of the debate in the States commencing 8th July 2014.

If the States approve structural reforms the Committee will develop its proposals further and report to the States in the early months of 2015 with further detailed recommendations for the future organisation of States' affairs in line with the States' resolutions made in respect of this first report. The continuation of the review process will include further consultation with States' Members, officers and the wider public.

If you would like to be kept updated on public events, future public consultation and progress with the review, then please let us know at you would like to be added to our distribution list.

A copy of the Requête which appeared in Billet d'Etat V, Item number 21 of 2012, and which sets out the mandate in full, is available to download at the bottom of this page together with the Committee's terms of reference.
