The range of our activities includes

  • Higher Education programmes
  • Vocational Qualifications (VQ) programmes
  • Health and Social Care Skills training
  • Conferences and workshops and
  • a developing role in research and practice development.

Courses are delivered by a team of highly skilled staff in a purpose built facility on the Princess Elizabeth Hospital site. The team at the Institute are committed to promoting inter-disciplinary learning opportunities and on-island learning. Teaching provision and learning experiences are of a high quality and are customer focused.

Our prospectus of  Training Courses includes clinical skills, health and social care short courses, in addition to more general topics aimed at a broader audience than health and social care professionals.

Our courses are also available to those staff working in the independent health or social care setting.

The Vocational Qualification programmes we offer enable people in employment to achieve a competency based vocational qualification.

The Institute has a long history of delivering Higher Education courses which lead to a professional registration, such as Nursing or Social Work. Pre-registration student nurses and social workers are employees of HSSD and are salaried.

We offer a range of post-registration opportunities, enabling health and social care staff to complete a degree on-Island. We also hope to have a new Post Graduate Diploma available from September 2013.

For information on other Higher Education courses available 'on island' download the guide at the bottom of this page.

If you would like any more information about our courses please contact us using the details below. A copy of our prospectus of courses for 2013 is also available to download at the bottom of this page.
