The British-Irish Council Environment work sector, hosted by the UK Government, held its sixteenth Ministerial meeting yesterday via virtual format for the first time.
This meeting has proved to be a constructive and unique forum for facilitating evidence exchange and practical collaboration since the Council was first established in 1999.
The States of Guernsey was represented by Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, President of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure.
Deputy de Sausmarez commented:
"Since the last Environment Sector Group meeting, Guernsey has made some significant progress in environmental policy generally, just this year approving a new Energy Policy, Climate Change Policy and Strategy for Nature, which together form strong foundations on which my new Committee is keen to build.
"I am proud that Guernsey can work in partnership with other jurisdictions and showcase its support and contributions to the marine environment, climate change adaptation and invasive non-native species in a global context."
