An idea suggested by Nicola Cross, HSC Occupational Therapy Lead, has come to fruition this week with the unveiling of a photography exhibition utilising the windows of the Castel Hospital building.
The HSC Arts + Health programme held a photographic competition for HSC staff themed on Guernsey nature, which resulted in over 238 photographs being submitted. 24 of these 238 images have been selected for display in this exhibition, with the remainder being included in an exhibition at the PEH later this year.
Lottie Barnes, Culture, Arts & Health Manager said:
'The Windows Project is based on nature and highlights the wellbeing benefits of being in nature and viewing nature (even via the medium of photography) to support staff wellbeing.
I am delighted by the number of photographs we have received. They celebrate our very talented workforce.'
Nicola Cross said:
'I am based at the Castel Hospital site, and I suggested to our Culture, Arts & Health Manager that it would be nice to have artwork to cover the boarded windows on the old hospital building to create a welcome environment for those staff and visitors at the Castel Hospital site.
It's fantastic to see all the photographs in place. It makes the building look much friendlier'
