Tuesday 20 December 2022

The Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure was represented at an online meeting today with political representatives from Jersey and the Isle of Man to discuss energy and climate change.

Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, President of the Committee, met online with Deputy Hilary Jeune, Jersey Minister for Energy and Climate Change, and Daphne Caine, Member of the House of Keys - Isle of Man.

Amongst the items discussed were commitments to decarbonisation, initiatives to reduce household heating emissions and energy security.

Deputy de Sausmarez, said:

"It was good to meet today with our friends in Jersey and the Isle of Man to discuss matters relating to energy and climate change. We share many similar challenges and opportunities in addressing the global problem of climate change, so it's helpful to share what we are doing here in Guernsey with others, and learn from the challenges and successes in these other jurisdictions. The Crown Dependencies have much in common, so it makes sense to pool our knowledge in this way for the benefit of all three islands."

It was unanimously agreed to hold these meetings regularly, with the next meeting scheduled to take place in the summer.
