Essential maintenance works will be carried out to the Uninterrupted Power Supply supporting HSC services tomorrow night (23 March 2023).
In order to facilitate these works and to protect systems and services, all IT systems will be unavailable from 6pm on Thursday evening until around midnight.
These essential works mean that the following IT reliant services will be impacted:
- Access to electronic patient record systems and IT clinical support services
- Lifts will be out of action
- The switchboard will be unavailable
- No internet or intranet access
These works will impact all HSC services that are delivered after 6pm each day - including community services.
HSC business continuity systems and contingency plans will be in place to ensure critical services continue. For example:
- Paper request forms will enable blood work, radiology services etc to be ordered
- A diversion will in place for essential phone calls into HSC
- Staff have mobile phone devices and will be provided with essential mobile contact numbers for their specific areas
- An emergency lift will be available for emergency theatre transfers
Between 6pm tomorrow evening and until these works are complete islanders are asked to consider the following:
- Please do not call the hospital between these times unless it is essential. A phone diversion will be in place, but the system will be slower than usual so please be patient.
- If you have mobility issues and are thinking about visiting a family member or friend, please note that there will be no lift access to Frossard Ward, Loveridge Ward, Vic Wing and Giffard Ward. All other wards and service areas have level access from either the main entrance to the PEH or using the Vauquiedor or Bulstrode entrance as follows:
- Brock & Carey Ward - please use Bulstrode Entrance
- Le Marchant Ward -please use the Vauquiedor Entrance
- De Havilland Ward - please use the Vauquiedor Entrance
- De Sausmarez Ward - please use Bulstrode Entrance
- Intensive Care Unit - please use the Emergency Department Entrance
- Accident and Emergency & radiology - please use the normal entrance
There will be no lift access to the Institute.
