Thursday 11 April 2024

From 11th April 2024 the UK will introduce a passport fee increase. The Bailiwick of Guernsey along with other Crown Dependencies will follow this fee increase from 1st June 2024.

Type of passportCurrent priceNew price
Standard passport - adult£93£100
Standard passport - child£64£69
Fast track passport - adult£155£166.50
Fast track passport - child£126£135.50

There has been an influx of standard passport applications recently, meaning those applications are taking approximately seven weeks to process. Therefore, the Guernsey Border Agency are asking people needing to renew their passport to allow ample time for their application to be processed if they want to avoid paying the fast-track application fee.

The New Jetty office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 0845 to 12 noon and Tuesday and Thursday 0845 to 1600 hours. Passport application forms are also available at alternative 'pick-up' points throughout the island. Please see www.gov.gg website for details.

Passports are issued for a maximum period of 10 years for adults, 5 years for a child. If you are planning to travel, please check your passport is valid. You must have a minimum of three months validity on your passport from the date of your intended exit from Europe to cross those borders, while some other countries require a six-month validity period.

If your passport is due to expire within six months of travel, and dependant on the length of your planned stay, you should check whether the country you are travelling to will allow entry.

The valid period must fall with the first 10 years of passport 'life'. Any additional months above the 10 years initial duration will no longer be a recognised as a valid period in which to travel and will require early renewal.

If in any doubt as to passport validity, please visit: Foreign travel advice - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
