Free bus services for this year's World Car Free Day

Tuesday 20 September 2022

Public bus services will be free to all passengers this Thursday 22 September to coincide with World Car Free Day.

The Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure have decided to provide a free public bus service on this day to encourage Islanders to try the bus and get a sense for its convenience in relation to commuting, shopping, visiting family and friends or simply exploring the Island.

Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, President of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure, said:

"Guernsey's bus network provides a comprehensive service across the island, connecting people to where they need to be. While there has been some disruption to services recently owing to driver shortages which are being experienced around the world, it remains a very convenient service. It's also affordable and a great way of reducing on-island transport emissions so we hope that Islanders will take advantage of Thursday's free services to get a feel for how getting the bus more regularly could benefit them."

CT Plus have advised that some services are still affected by the shortage of drivers and full details can be found on their website https://buses.gg.
