Opportunity to find out more about AccessAble guide

Tuesday 05 April 2022

AccessAble are hosting an information session giving individuals and businesses the opportunity to find out more about the online accessibility guides.

The information session is being held at the Guernsey Information Centre on Wednesday 20th April from 10-11am.

If you would like to attend the information session, please contact Gill Evans, the States Disability Officer, by emailing gill.evans@gov.gg or calling 222897.

An AccessAble surveyor will also be visiting the island to update the current venues and places on the online guide, and to add a number of new venues.

There are around 500 accessibility guides currently available which provide important information about the access to and facilities at many different venues across the island.

The accessibility guides are available at www.accessable.co.uk

Gill Evans, the States Disability Officer, said:

"For many people, planning a trip is important, especially if they have particular needs.  This guide provides information about such things as parking, whether the access is step free, what the venue is like inside and if there are accessible toilet facilities available.

"Last year the surveyors added information about different beaches, which we anticipate that islanders and visitors will find useful."

Geraldine Williams, Activities Coordinator for Headway Guernsey, who attended a recent presentation about the guide, said:

"The AccessAble online guide is my go-to when organising a Headway event for our members.  Having an accessible guide to Guernsey venues at the click of your finger is an asset to the community.  You can select and filter the results based on your location requirements which makes your search so easy to navigate.  The information session is a great refresher about how to maximise your searches on the online guide."
