Public Services dreaming of a green Christmas for trees

Friday 21 December 2012

Public Services is again giving islanders plenty of opportunities to recycle their Christmas trees.

Trees can be dropped off at Earlswood, Queux Patio Plants and Le Friquet garden centres; Burnt Lane, St Martin's; and the Longue Hougue Waste Recycling Facility from 27th December until 22nd January 2013.

Once collected, the trees will be turned into wood chips and used as mulch in parks around Guernsey.

Public Services Recycling Officer, Tina Norman-Ross said that the Department was hoping to match last year's figures.

'Last year we collected a staggering 5,500 trees. It made a very large pile of mulch that has been put to really good use keeping our parks and public spaces looking green and colourful in 2012.'

All baubles and trimmings should be removed before recycling.
