Scheduled Bus Services - Extra Route 61 Services to Operate from Tuesday 3rd September 2013

Thursday 29 August 2013

As a result of a number of objections being raised in respect of the absence of conveniently timed Route 61 services operating to and from the Grange during College times, the Environment Department has been working closely with CT Plus to see whether any changes can be made to the existing scheduled services to address these concerns ahead of any proposed changes to be incorporated within the forthcoming winter bus timetable.

Whilst it has proved difficult to provide a solution given the very tight constraints placed on existing resources, the Department has reached agreement with CT Plus to provide two additional Route 61 services in peak periods (one passing Perelle at 07:38 and arriving in the Grange at 08:02 and the other passing through the Grange at 16:10 and arriving at Perelle at 16:34).

These services will operate Monday to Friday with the inbound (am) and outbound (pm) services diverting via Rue de Gele and Rue de Maladarie. Importantly, these services will commence before the College students return to school on Thursday 5 September 2013. Similar services have been proposed by CT Plus as part of its submission for the winter timetable which is due to commence on Monday 7 October 2013 and is currently the subject of a separate public consultation exercise.

By introducing these additional services now, parents will have the opportunity to plan students travel arrangements from the beginning of the new school year. It is also hoped that the route and timings of the new services will also appeal to commuters living in this part of the Island.
