Environment Department response to media enquiry from Guernsey Press:
I understand that Environment is examining the L'Ancresse sea wall but is the department inspecting other walls around the island? How have they fared in this weather?
This would be for tomorrow's paper.
Environment Department's response:
The Environment Department officers and States Property Services Engineers are inspecting coastal defences today.
The L'Eree shingle bank was breached shortly after high tide this morning. The damage was repaired by 11:30 and minor tidying and some re-profiling of the shingle bank will be completed by mid-afternoon.
Minor damage at Saints Harbour will be repaired next week.
